Ice Cream & Cupcake Shop Opening in Magnolia

On the downtown square of Magnolia, Arkansas, there are a variety of places in which attract people to visit it. There are boutiques, restaurants, a bank, nutrition store, a couple of law firms, and recently added: a couple of coffee shops. There are several other areas of Magnolia that have places similar to these but the square is what you might could call the "hotspot" of town.

Something Magnolia is missing (among other things that our town could hopefully benefit from in the future) is an ice cream shop. Somewhere students and adults alike could go and enjoy a sweet treat and have a good time. Sure, one could argue that there is a Dairy Queen and even a Sonic down the road, but nothing beats a good, classic, local ice cream shop.

With all of that being said, Magnolia is excited to announce the soon-to-open ice cream shop that will be located on the square. It will open on the south side of the square right under The Loft, which was formerly the Columbia County Bank a long time ago, and more recently was the former Cosmopolitan Ladies Club.

Heather and Jeffrey Beckers announced the plans to open "Maggie's" on this past Thursday. They are describing it to be "a fun place to gather and enjoy each other's company over artisanal ice cream, delicious cupcakes, and other sweet treats. A dedication to provide keto friendly, gluten free and other healthy options will also be a driving force as the recipes are tweaked and menu is finalized."

I, personally, was actually on the square this past Thursday night for the monthly event called Second Thursday when some local boutiques and vendors have booths outside, and I ran into the new shop owners of Maggie's. They said that they are making all of the ice cream and gelato from scratch and not ordering it out from anywhere. They have been tweaking and testing recipes and are really excited for the public to get a taste. The lady even commented that they want to do those really large kind of overflowing type of milkshakes as well.

In my opinion, this is something super needed for the city of Magnolia. We have been making strides with the opening of coffee shops around town and even with the opening of Mulekick. This opening of a new ice cream shop is definitely another step in the right direction of the betterment and progression of Magnolia, and I am so excited to witness it because I'm proud of my hometown and what it's doing. I love to support local businesses, and I hope to see this place thrive.
