Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes

Taylor Swift is pretty infamous for collaborating with other celebrities and has even been known to go as far as to bring a surprise guest celebrity onto her shows at almost every concert she does on tour. Each night, she would have a different celebrity make a surprise appearance. It was no surprise when Swift announced in a video on Instagram her collaboration - or collaborashawn as she called it - with Shawn Mendes.




The song that they collaborated on, Lover, is actually the title song of Swift's new album she just released this past August (2019), but she and Mendes collaborated and remixed the song together. They released the song today, November 13, 2019, as a surprise to their fans.

The song is unique because it took out lyrics in certain verses that Swift had originally written and those lyrics were replaced with lyrics that Swift let Mendes write on his own to replace hers. Swift commented that she really respects Mendes as a writer and feels as though everyone has their own unique love letter and wanted Mendes to write his own lyrics to sing rather than just to give him lyrics that she had written.




"Taylor makes the job of creating music for millions of people look easy," Mendes says of Swift, "It all comes from her -- her belief in magic and love, and her ability to be as honest and raw as possible. She's the master of putting the perfect amount of thought into not overthinking, and that's why her music connects so well."

 The two are big fans of each other. Mendes opened up several shows for Swift before becoming such a big name and becoming as famous as he is now. He has just as much respect - if not more - for Swift as she does for them, and they have a great friendship. 

 Swift has reportedly been wanting to do a collaboration with Mendes for a long time. It's finally happened and the reactions they are getting from fans are greater than they could have anticipated. Many people are claiming this song as their future wedding song. 

 #LoverRemix is also currently trending on Twitter. People have taken to Twitter to express their feelings about the new song. 



There is almost nothing but good reviews so far.
